CV of prof. Georg Holzer


Georg Holzer (Vienna 1957) studied Slavic and Indo-European Linguistics and obtained his PhD in 1982 at the University of Vienna “sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae”. From 1980 to 1983 he worked as a lecturer in German at the University of Zagreb. In 1983 he was employed at the University of Vienna, where he works now as associate professor of Slavic linguistics. In 1996 he was appointed as member of the “Balkan-Kommission” of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and in 2008 as corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Occasionally he teaches at the University of Zagreb.

He is the editor in chief (Schriftleiter) of the “Wiener Slavistisches Jahrbuch”, founder and editor of the series “Schriften über Sprachen und Texte” and member of the advisory boards of some foreign journals.
